Ribar Time

We made it to Pittsburgh without a problem and had a fantastic time. We didn't buy the DVD player, instead we bought him a couple new toys (puzzle, etch-a-sketch) and left at 4 a.m. He didn't sleep much during the drive, but he was out of it, which we assumed was from the early wake up call. However, when he woke up from his nap at nunny and pap-pap's I realized he was on fire. Even his toes were hot. I took his temperature and it was 103.9. I called my dad who said to take him to the ER at Children's Hospital. He had an ear infection in one ear and the start of one in the other ear. The doctor prescribed medicine and we finally headed home. It was a long, long day! Poor Sam, I never saw him so upset. The only thing that kept him from crying was when we sang "Old McDonald" or another song that I don't know the name of from the Noggin television channel.

The next day we headed to the Pittsburgh Zoo with Nunny and Aunt Julie. Sam still had a low fever, but appeared to be feeling much better and he enjoyed seeing the animals and running around the zoo. It's hard to say what animal he liked the most, but his mouth was wide open when he saw the mama elephant and her baby.

Then, we went to dinner with the entire Ribar clan. Sam's cousin, Zack, was there and the two had fun entertaining the family. Zack even spent the night at nunny and pap-pap's so he was able to have quality time with Sam. But, Sam went to bed immediately upon our return, so we played games (spoons and left, center, right) with Zack.

On Saturday, nunny and pap-pap invited people over to the house for a feast. Sam got to see many of his great aunts and uncles and friends of the Ribars. He had a great time running around outside. Zack seemed to have fun with Sam and enjoyed helping to take care of Sam. Too bad Zack can't live with us! We had a great time and can't wait to go back for a visit.

Now we're back home and hope to stay here for a while. Today I took Sam to a kinder fitness class at the YMCA. I assume it's like Gymboree, but a heck of a lot cheaper. We sang songs and Sam ran around the obstacle course. There were gymnastic rings and bars, but Sam hasn't figured out how to hold on and hang. There was also a pit full of soft blocks that Sam practically drowned in (not really, but it was deep)! Needless to say, he had a fun time. Check out our new September photos.
