Sorry for the delay between posts. We were asleep on the job.
This weekend Sam met his other two grandparents: Nunny and Pap Pap Ribar. They flew in from Pittsburgh on Thursday and will be leaving early tomorrow morning. We had a nice relaxing weekend together, spending the days playing "I want to hold him now".
As far as Sam's development, things are going great. His mom takes him on long walks nearly every day in the stroller, which he really enjoys. She even did one quick walk to the neighbor's using her Bjorn Baby carrier.
Sam's eating and sleeping schedule is close to where we want it to be. He isn't sleeping through the night yet, but he does usually sleep longer hours at that time.
Sometime over the past week or so, Sam graduated to full tub baths. His dad gets in the tub with him and holds him still while mom does the washing and rinsing. We found through trial and error that he enjoys the bath more when he's submerged as much as possible.
Sam's spurts of crying -- which are now accompanied by tiny little tears -- are becoming more intense, but less random. He cries mostly to fix a problem (e.g. "feed me", "change me", "get me out of this stupid tub") instead of just crying as a reflex. But who knows, maybe he always cried when he needed a diaper change, and we are just now realizing it.
We know its way too early for Sam to be enjoying a joke, but he has been "accidentally smiling" a lot lately. We even caught a few on camera. Examples one, two, and three. We can't wait for the day when we are actually the cause of these expressions.
Starting tomorrow, we will be on our own again. Dave goes back to work full time at the office, and we have no visitors planned for a while. Dave actually did go in to the office one day last week, and things went very smoothly. In fact, we are looking forward to getting into our normal routine, whatever that may be.
There are new pictures in the Photo Gallery under April 2008 and May 2008. Please check them out. (Be careful with the May 2008 album, there is a full-frontal nudity shot. But don't worry, it was tastefully done.)
