Yesterday, Dave registered for a local YMCA 5k race being held today. While tying his shoes this morning, Melanie suggested he should run with Sam. 3.1 miles later, Sam experienced his first race, just four weeks after his birth.
By some strange coincidence, Dave ran the entire race (pushing Sam) neck and neck with Dr. Bajaj (pushing her son). Dr. Bajaj is the doctor that delivered Sam! It wasn't until midway through the race that Dave recognized the doctor running next to him. They talked for a little while, then went back to business. After the race, Melanie met up with the Ribar team and we had a 30 second reunion with the doctor.
Overall, it was a nice little fun race. Dave was not in running shape, but managed to survive. Sam pretty much slept through the whole thing. Dave/Sam's time was 29:08, good for 164th place (out of 300+). Not a great time, but not too bad either. Let's hear it for mediocrity!
There are two big days coming up. Tomorrow is Melanie's first official Mother's Day (no offense Sienna). And Monday is Sam's 1-month exam.
There are a couple new photos in the May 2008 album.
