Juliette had her one-month checkup Tuesday, and everything is fine. She now weighs 11 lbs. The doctor told us this is the age when the crying intensifies, and we believe him. Juliette is agitated most evenings, and the best way to calm her is to carry her around the house. And Melanie's left arm is going to look like Popeye's, because Juliette likes being held a fair share of the time during the day-- making for one unclean house and the use of only one arm. It's draining mentally and physically. But rejoice! Out of nowhere, Juliette slept through the night Wednesday night for the first time. Yes, it was probably because she was wide awake all evening leading up to it. But 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep is a wonderful thing.

Last Saturday, when Liz walked into the living room and saw Dave watching a game, she said with a smile, "Oh dad, you're watching football." By Sunday evening, I guess she had enough, because she ran into the room yelling, "Noooooooo! Don't watch football!" We haven't explained to her that it's only Week 1.

Sam came downstairs last week and asked us to help him get a hair out of his train wheel. We expected to find a hair in the train wheel. Instead we found a clump of Lizzie's hair pulled out by the root. We immediately ran upstairs to make sure she was alright, and she was totally fine, quietly watching tv. We're not sure who pulled the hair out, how they did it, and why it didn't hurt. But sometimes, it's better if you don't know.

Other quick updates:
Sam started his second year of preschool, and he loves it.
Dave is back to work in the office, and we are all surviving.
The Democratic National Convention is over, and the city of Charlotte is still standing.
