7:30 am: Sam and I put up the flag
8:15 am: Sam and I took down the flag
8:20 am: It started raining and didn't end
In development news, things are progressing. Elizabeth is still smiling, and Melanie says she is cooing a lot too. She's also sleeping pretty well. On most nights this past week, she was up at 10 pm, then between 2 and 3 am, then between 5 and 6 a.m. Not bad (says the man who doesn't get up in the middle of the night).
As for Sam, his vocabulary is ramping up. For example, today he counted to 10 with me. He skipped 4 and 9, but who's counting. Before today, I only ever heard him count to 3. The good thing is that he gets excited when he uses a new word, which encourages him to try new ones. We've already mentioned that Sam loves his cars. But his new thing is that he brings a car to mommy or daddy to play with, too. Because, of course in his mind, cars are the greatest toy in the whole world and everyone wants to play with them.
On a gross but funny note (again, from the man who didn't have to deal with it), yesterday Sam went #2 during a nap. He woke up and was upset about it, so he took off his pants and diaper. Then he started crying and walking around. At some point, he stepped in the diaper and tracked the evidence all around the room before Melanie got to him. Melanie basically took everything in the room and threw it in the wash. Then she scrubbed the carpet with a cleaner we had bought for Sienna's accidents.Next weekend we are going to Hilton Head for a quick visit. It will be our first overnight trip with both Sam and Liz. It will also be a good dry-run for the long drive to Pittsburgh in July.
