Melanie's parents arrived the night before Elizabeth was born, and they left this past Sunday. It was nice having them around. They were a great help. It was a relief to run errands without organizing schedules ahead of time. All I had to do was say, "Going to the store. Be back in an hour." As usual, Na-nah was the MVP, doing pretty much anything we asked (or didn't ask) -- cooking, cleaning, babysitting, etc. Sam enjoyed their company, too, and he bonded with Na-dah in no time.
(By the way, some people are confused about the pronunciation of the Staab grandparents. It's easy. They both kind-of rhyme with "grandma". Just substitute the "grand" with "na", and "ma" with either "naw" or "daw". Now the spelling -- that's the part we don't fully understand.)Saturday was a busy day. Matt/Molly, and their 4-month-old Lillian came for a visit. Getting a picture of all three kids was a problem, because at least one of them was always crying or sleeping. We had to settle for the picture below. The girls are perfect, but Sam looks like a wreck because he had just woken up (badly) from a nap.
Also on Saturday, Melanie, Sam, and I stepped out of the house to meet the Easter Bunny! He was in our community organizing an Easter egg hunt. This was Sam's first egg hunt, and he did a good job (about 10 eggs). Next year, we'll try to be a little more aggressive. A lot of the other kids (and parents) were on a mission, and all the eggs were gone in 5 minutes.
Fittingly, Staab Week came to an end with WVU making it to the Final Four. The world must be coming to an end.Sam is doing a really good job as a big brother. He's working hard on being "gentle". In this video, he's a little more than gentle, but he's still in the safe zone.
Sam has had a few relapses where he wants to be a baby again. For example, he'll sometimes steal Elizabeth's pacifier and walk around with it in his mouth. As for Elizabeth, she is an easy baby so far. The only difficulty is that she is most alert starting around 9 pm each night. We're hoping she'll soon shift that forward by about 12 hours, but all in all, it's not a major problem. There are lots and lots of new photos in the gallery.
Happy Easter!
