Dave's a man! He's 40!
(You know you want to rewatch this classic press conference.)
The celebration started a few days early, when Melanie threw him a surprise bowling party. It was a challenge, and a little worrisome leaving our 4 month old at home with a teenager, but she pulled it off. We all had a great kid-free time. Fittingly, Dave was (by far) the top bowler.

On Dave's actual birthday, we had a smaller family celebration.

Funny story. Liz is really into Christmas carols. One day, she was prancing around the living room, singing: "You better watch out... Santa Claus is coming to town..." Sam then came around the corner singing his own tune: "Weeeee are never ever ever, getting back together...".
Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!

Santa recently came to our clubhouse. The week leading up to it, Liz kept pleading: "I don't want to go. I want to stay home with daddy." She even cried the morning of. But she sucked it up and sat on his lap with her sister, and there were no tears. Maybe next year she'll actually enjoy it.

Sam performed The Little Drummer Boy at church. Channeling Dave's percussion talents, he did a good job keeping the beat. Even when he dropped a drumstick, he didn't get flustered.
Later that night, after Sam's performance, Juliette played the part of baby Jesus in a youth church play. Three-fifths of our family (Dave 1972, Elizabeth 2010, Juliette 2012) have now had this honor.
Oops! We forgot to mention a major milestone in the last post. The day before Thanksgiving, Juliette rolled over for the very first time! She was 3 months and 19 days, which was about a week later than Liz first did it (and a month earlier than Sam).
