We spent Christmas in Hilton Head with the Staabs. But before we left, we had a pre-Christmas celebration at home opening up the Ribar family presents.
As you can see from this tea party video, Sam liked Liz's presents as much as his own. Liz, meanwhile, was happy playing with the bows and wrapping paper.
In South Carolina, we spent the holiday with Nanah and Nadah (of course) and Matt, Molly, and Lillian. And also Reagan the dog.
The children did a good job of entertaining each other without bugging each other too much. And Santa came as planned on December 24th, making the next morning a lot of fun.
In addition to presents, Christmas day also involved Dr. Staab making a house call, inspecting and cleaning Matt's and Dave's ears. For Matt, this is becoming a Christmas tradition. I could go into more detail on this, but it's better to stop now.
In development news, Liz now has 6 teeth and is working on a couple more. She is also standing with assistance very well. She likes to clap her hands and mimic whatever Sam is doing. Also, when her dad puts her on his shoulders and says, "Where's Liz?", she leans down and gives him a big smile.
As for Sam, he spends most days repeating: "What's this, mommy?" and "What's this, daddy?" And now with his new train table, he likes to say: "I'll be Thomas. Daddy, you be Percy."
This is a picture we took today, right before a jog through the neighborhood. Yes, it does get cold in Charlotte. In fact, this year Charlotte had its first white Christmas in 63 years! Unfortunately, we missed it. But we did see real snow flurries in Hilton Head on December 26th. I never thought we'd witness snow there.
We don't like overloading you with photos, but it was hard to pick and choose. So we ended up posting many of our Christmas photos in the December 2010 photo gallery. There's a really good one of Sam and Lillian enjoying presents while Liz is content under the coffee table playing with tissue paper. It pretty much sums up the holiday for us.
Hope you all had a great Christmas, and will have a happy and safe new year!
See you in 2011.
