We stopped swaddling Elizabeth two weeks ago, and she takes full advantage of her freedom by scooting and rolling all around her crib. Each night we lay her in the middle of the crib, and each morning we find her in the corner. I guess that's her comfort area.
Elizabeth's sleeping is going alright, but her falling asleep is a nightmare. Whether she naps well during the day or not, she has pretty much been wide awake from dinner until after 10 for the past week and a half. It's frustrating. She's tired. We're tired. But she won't fall asleep. We started today on better nap and sleep routines, and it should help things. The idea is to wake her up early in the morning, get in three good naps throughout the day, then get her to bed early in the evening.
As for Sam, just for fun I sang Twinkle Twinkle Little ____, leaving off the last word. On cue, he shouted out "star!" That surprised me a little, so I did the rest of the song the same way, and he got each last word correct. Then I tried other songs. And he did really well on each one. He didn't always get the right word, but he did say a word that rhymed. Who knew he was listening so intently all these nights. One other song note. When we do Take Me Out to the Ballgame, at the end he holds up his hands and focuses really hard to count with his fingers ("1-2-3 strikes yer out...").

Now that we are in July, new photos will be placed in the July 2010 folder (yes, it's a complicated system).
